For Middle School core courses, students take the appropriate course for their grade, i.e. 6th Grade Math, or 7th Grade Science.  The core courses are: Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.

All Middle School students need to take the four core courses above.  In addition, they choose 2 credits of electives at each grade level.

Grades & Transcripts

Transcripts
In 9th grade, a permanent record of course selection, grades, grade point average (GPA), class rank and attendance is created for each student. The GPA is cumulative.

Grading
Staff communicates student academic progress to parents through interim reports and quarterly grades. Here is the grading scale:

A (90+) Excellent progress in mastering subject objectives.
B (80-89) Above average progress in mastering subject objectives.
C (70-79) Satisfactory progress in achieving subject objectives.
D (60-69) Below average progress in achieving subject objectives.
F (0-59) Failure to achieve minimum subject objectives.

Grade Point Average (GPA)
The GPA is calculated on the basis of grades received in academic classes each semester. Grades are assigned points (A = 4, B = 3, C = 2, D = 1, F = 0). To calculate the GPA each semester, the sum of earned points is divided by the total number of classes taken that semester. Since the GPA is cumulative, grades are averaged from semester one of ninth grade through the final semester in high school.
